Grants Opening

The next round of grants opens Monday 6 January 2020 and will close on 15 May 2020. The Ngāti Mākino Heritage Trust have determined the key focus areas for this years grants and distributions and amounts allocated to each of these focus areas.

The following are the four main areas for 2020:

    • Tertiary Education Grant to support Ngati Makino rangatahi, iwi and their descendants to attain higher education and to build relationships with Ngāti Mākino rangatahi and tauira who in the future will contribute to Ngāti Mākino development
    • Kaumātua Grant to support our Ngāti Mākino Kaumātua
    • Hauora/Discretionary Grant to improve the health and wellbeing of Ngāti Mākino
    • Mārae Grant to protect, restore and/or develop marae facilities; improve a marae’s ability to meet the hopes and needs of whānau, hapū and iwi; to protect and tell our stories and heritage for people in the future; and improve community links and relationships
General Eligibility Criteria

The general eligibility criteria for distribution grants are as follows:

    1. Applicants must be registered on the Ngāti Mākino Iwi Register
    2. Applications will only be considered from individuals, groups or organisations that seek to develop, promote or enhance the social, cultural or environmental well being of Ngāti Mākino and/or its members
    3. Individuals, mārae or eligible groups & organisations can only apply for one grant of the ‘same or similar’ purpose within any income Year
Application Information

Specific eligibility information is provided in the individual grant applications.  Application forms for each focus area are be available on the Ngāti Mākino website and from the office prior to the application opening date.  Applications open on the 6 January 2020 and close on 15 May 2020
