This is the first of three wānanga scheduled for 2018 to enable uri of Mākino to gain an understanding of Mākino history, whakapapa, tikanga whanaungatanga and learn moteatea. Mai i Tawhitiareare ki Maketu tae noa ki Otamarakau; From Tahiti to Maketu to Otamarakau; This is the primary kaupapa - focus of the two day wānanga. You will also learn moteatea.

The nanga are designed to strengthen you the individual you the whānau and us all the iwi. So come with an enquiring mind an open heart and a passion to learn about your Mākinotanga – to learn what makes you Ngāti Mākino

This wānanga will be live streamed via our secure members area on our website.

Please note: YOU MUST HAVE AN ONLINE MEMBERSHIP to participate in the live streaming of this wānanga!!

Additional Information:

  • You MUST be Ngāti Mākino
  • You MUST have an online membership to participate in the live streaming of this event
  • Partners and tamariki are welcome
  • Otamarakau marae is available for travellers from beyond the BOP on Friday evening
  • Please complete all relevant sections when you register 
  • Please bring your own toiletries; blankets clothes and towels
  • Mattresses, linen and pillows will be supplied
  • All meals will be provided
  • The nanga will be in te reo and English
  • A programme will be available upon registration at the nanga
