Ngāti Mākino Iwi Authority
Wānanga II – June 16 2018
This is the second of three wānanga scheduled for 2018 to enable uri of Mākino to gain an understanding of Mākino history, whakapapa, tikanga whanaungatanga and learn moteatea. Mai i Tawhitiareare ki Maketu tae noa ki Otamarakau; From Tahiti to Maketu to Otamarakau was the kaupapa of the first wānanga; Wānanga II will focus on Makino Tupuna; Mākino Whakapapa; Mākino Whenua; and will also include learning moteatea.
The wānanga are designed to strengthen you the individual you the whānau and us all the iwi. So come with an enquiring mind an open heart and a passion to learn about your Mākinotanga – to learn what makes you Ngāti Mākino. And because the Wānanga will be in te reo & reo Pakeha...brush up on your reo and bring a dictionary!!!
Please be aware once we have 100 people registered the Wānanga registrations will be closed. This is because our wharetupuna can only comfortably seat 100 people. If you are coming for the first time welcome and please prepare a short mihimihi introducing yourself; if you are returning add some more korero to what you did at the first Wänanga. Fear is never the enemy when you are with whanau...So, come to learn come to participate come to engage so together we help make our marae and our iwi stronger....
Ehara taku toa, i te toa taki tahi, Kātahi ko taku toa he toa taki tini ā Mākino.
