Marae Grants


Marae are expected to show how the funding will benefit the people and help:

    • protect, restore and/or develop marae facilities;
    • improve a marae’s ability to meet the hopes and needs of whānau, hapū and iwi;
    • protect and tell our stories and heritage for people in the future; and
    • improve community links and relationships
    • Marae grants will be paid at the trustees discretion
Eligibility & Criteria
    • Applications will only be accepted from marae that can whakapapa to Ngāti Mākino, and must be submitted by the Marae Trustees and/or Marae Committee
    • To be considered for a grant you must provide a written submission that clearly shows how the funding will benefit Nga uri o Ngati Makino in one or more of the area’s listed above
    • Submissions open on the 2 December 2017 and close on 30 March 2018 and are to be forwarded to:

    • Approval is entirely at the discretion of the Trustees
A proposal outlining your project must be submitted to the board for your application to be considered
