Purpose of this Register

The purpose of registering with the Ngāti Mākino Iwi Authority is to enable us to collect in a centralised location the contact details and demographic information of all those who affiliate to Ngāti Mākino Iwi.

If you are a descendent of Ngāti Mākino, then you are encouraged to register yourself including dependent children to become eligible beneficiaries.

The Ngāti Mākino iwi register is used for a number of purposes, including:

  1. Developing communications networks for distributing important iwi information
  2. Identifying registered members who are eligible to vote on important issues pertaining to Ngāti Mākino Iwi Authority
  3. Identify registered members eligible for nomination as a trustee
  4. Enabling registered members to benefit from distributions, grants, scholarships, and any other assistance or services initiated by Ngāti Mākino
  5. Projection of future needs and strategic planning
  6. Participate in Iwi developments requiring specific skill sets as they arise

Criteria for enrolment

You must be able to whakapapa to Ngāti Mākino
You must “COMPLETE ALL SECTIONS” of this form including the declaration 
Your application can be validated by a kaumatua of your nominated Marae/ Hapu however, this part of the process is generally arranged by the Iwi Authority

Why should I register?

  1. It identifies you as a member of Ngāti Mākino Iwi
  2. Enables you to access our member only area on our website to update your details, view member only content etc
  3. Allows you access to funding through a range of grants
  4. Enables the Iwi to keep you up-to-date and informed about important issues

    Who should register?

    1. Any person who is a descendent of Ngāti Mākino

    Who should not register?

    1. Any person who is not a descendent of Ngati Makino
    2. Whangai with no whakapapa links to Ngati Makino
    3. In-Laws

    Once I have registered, do I need to do anything else?

    1. You should notify us or update your details online when you change your address and / or if any of your contact details change (e.g. phone, marriage)
    2. You should notify us of any additions to your whanau, so we can send you a form to enrol them
    3. You should notify us when there is a death in the whanau so we can update our records
